Introducing Serif CMS

an introduction for designers and developers

Serif is a Content Management System that we have created specifically for designers, us to be exact. We wanted it to be as simple as possible to get from a design to a managed site. We're hoping that it will be as useful for other designers as it is for us.

As designers ourselves we noticed that, despite having our own CMS, it's sometimes quicker to create basic sites in html. With a html file you can see what you are doing as you are doing it. We wanted everything to be file based so we didn't need to be running a copy of the CMS to test what it looks like in different browsers.

We wanted the environment to work around us instead of against us, with as few complications as possible to explain to customers.

What we wanted was to create a few html templates that look like a site that can just be handed to the CMS and made manageable. So that's exactly what we built. It's called Serif.
